Ford Motor Company: Loss of Power or Fire Risk from Incorrect BECM Software

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain Battery Energy Control Modules (BECM) with part numbers PZ98-10B687-K* and PZ98-14C197-K*. The battery energy control module software may cause an incorrect state of charge to display in the vehicle or lead to the BECM overheating. An inaccurate state-of-charge reading can lead to an unexpected loss of drive power, increasing the risk of crash. Additionally, an overheating BECM increases the risk of a fire.
