Turn on automatic updates for your phone, computer, browser, and router. Most breaches use a hole that was patched months ago.
Use multi-factor authentication on email and banking first — email is the master key that resets everything else.
Use a different password for every account. A password manager makes this realistic; reused passwords are how one leak becomes ten.
Back up what you can't replace to a drive or service that isn't always connected. That's the only reliable answer to ransomware.
Assume links in unexpected email and texts are hostile. Type the address yourself instead of tapping through.
